After an exhausting fight against horrific federal stimulus money, South Carolina’s governor has straight up disappeared. Kicker: no one really cares.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Where is South Carolina’s governor?
Gov. Mark Sanford’s wife said Monday she did not know the location of the two-term Republican chief executive. Sanford’s staff declined to disclose where he was.
First lady Jenny Sanford told The Associated Press her husband has been gone for several days and she doesn’t know where. She said she was not concerned. Jenny Sanford said the governor said he needed time away from their children to write something.
Oh, we get it now. When you put it that way, it makes perfect sense. He needs time away from the kids…to “write something.” Actually, what the hell does that even mean? Is he writing a screenplay? A sexy novel? A resignation speech?
Surely the lieutenant governor must know where he is, right?
Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer said he didn’t know where Sanford is but said he had not been put in charge.
Ah, so the second in command doesn’t know where the head honcho is, presumably isn’t communicating with him, AND hasn’t been put in charge! Granted South Carolina is a well-oiled machine that pretty much runs itself, but still, this is ridiculous.
Can’t wait to find out where Sandford’s been, but smart money’s on: coke bender.
UPDATE: We beat you, Gawker!
