We were stunned this afternoon when we saw that one of the protesters outside Barack Obama’s healthcare town hall in New Hampshire was packing the heat — ie carrying a loaded weapon — and that everyone (cops included) was pretty much cool with that. Yeah, because allowing a guy to stand on a grassy knoll with a gun, holding a sign referencing this Thomas Jefferson quote: “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants,” is a really good idea.
Check out the video for yourself, and see if you can’t think of any good reasons why this is insane.

Perhaps he had a gun because it is his right, as guaranteed by the Second Amendment. Perhaps not everyone who owns a gun is out to kill the President or another person?
Let me save you time, You think I am a moron/retard.
Let me save myself time in rebuttal — I am sure glad you are not in charge of my freedoms.
That actually made me laugh. Well done. (I feel dirty now)
You’re correct; it absolutely IS his right. He has a permit, and can carry in New Hampshire. That said, it seems like a terrible idea against the backdrop of these town halls and the threats that are flying. To me, it was a matter of taste and appropriateness, and frankly, I don’t think even the staunchest opponent of the president (ANY president) would think it wise to allow random people with guns near him.
The fact that you CAN do something doesn’t mean that you SHOULD do something.
Actually I agree with you Josh.
Here is a little pokety-poke — I assume by the threats you are discussing are the racist attacks on protestors by members of the SEIU?
