The hip-hop makeover of the Republican Party continued today with the roll-out of the GOP’s new website and Michael Steele’s new column, “What Up?” Seriously, we kid you not, that’s the name of his column. After all, nothing draws in old white men like a little bit of jive.
So how’d it go? you ask. Not well. Not well at all.
To be fair, the new website, GOP.com, does have one feature we really like: every time you refresh it, a new Republican’s face appears where the O in GOP should be. We’ve had a lot of fun so far this morning hitting refresh and guessing whether it would be a white man, a fat white man or an old white man. Once we were thrown for a loop, though, and it was a white woman. WTF? Apparently they’re still working out the kinks.
Still, the real reason we checked out the site was to read Michael Steele. Every time he talks it’s a revelation, so we figured: heck, if you take away the filter of TV or an editor and just read what amounts to a blog, it has to be good.
Come strong or don’t come at all, Steeley-o!
The Internet has been around a while, now. But, I still find it an amazing platform for innovation, not just in technology, but in life. Beyond admiring the way it powers so many inventions and businesses, it has become a personal thing for me. I love the fact that, wherever I might be, I can use technology to see my family and chat with them, and Social Media to tap into what my friends are doing.
Honestly, we have no idea what any of that has to do with anything, but it reads kind of like a second grader’s book report on the Internet. In other words, better than expected, Mike! Good job!
My first blog entry, therefore, is really a couple of questions for you; use the comment button to send me replies. We will run as many questions as we can, which I will answer.
Why are you are Republican? Think about that for a minute.
Seriously, everyone, think about it. Why are you are Republican?! Think about it. Did Michael Steele just blow your mind?
Needless to say, you’re probably gonna want to RSS this page. You don’t want to miss any of Michael Steele’s important messages.
