Some Country for Old Men

Maybe at this point we’re just beating a dead horse (which, incidentally, would do a better reporting job than most people on Fox News), but we’re still gonna talk about it again: Fox News is not news; it’s a political research and messaging arm of the Republican Party. Sure, perhaps it’s a coincidence, but is it really a coincidence that on the same day Sarah Palin jumped back into the fold (by calling sweet baby Trig a “retard”), Fox started talking about her goofy “death panel” nonsense again?

Setting aside the fact that the entire premise of the death panel was something beauty queen/sports reporter/professional quitter Palin devised and pushed on her FACEBOOK page, did everyone forget that the entire notion was debunked? Oh, and did we mention they’d been debunked? And that they were debunked… Also, it was DEBUNKED!

In other words, you’d have to be far off the reservation, far outside the bounds of reporting and facts and the past 10-50 news cycles to even consider using the term “death panels” in any regard other than a sentence like this: “Failed vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who’s so retarded that she once referred to end-of-life counseling as ‘death panels,’ called her son Trig ‘retarded’ today.”

And yet, what was on the front page of Fox News last night? This:

Despite the debunking, despite the fact that they insist on calling themselves a news organization and despite the fact that presumably more people would be paying attention to the slant of their content considering their “WAR” with the White House, they’re touting “death panels” being in the House bill.

Yes, one last time, the Republican-sponsored “death panels.” They’re back!
