A lot of stuff in the U.S. Senate is accomplished via Unanimous Consent — nobody objects to the request, so it happens — and rarely if ever do you see a request as simple as, say, an additional minute of speaking time, denied. But hey, rub enough people the wrong way (as terrible excuse for a human being, Joe Lieberman has done), and you’re gonna find yourself without many friends.
