FOX News’s rejection of impartiality and journalistic principles is complete and thorough. From producing misleading photos, pushing bad data and fomenting rebellion to noting that “Hey, it’s cool to have Bible verses on U.S. military weapons because the Muslims started this war,” they’ve made pushing a right-wing, pro-Christian agenda their cause and they’ve done it behind the guise of “fair and balanced” news.
The latest example of their absurdity is on the front page of their FoxNation site right now:
Yes, that headline actually says “Health Care Talks Collapsing, Americans on Brink of Victory.” Apparently at FOX, a victory for this country means nearly 47 million uninsured Americans, continued spiraling health care costs and no effort to do anything about the situation.
Andrew Sullivan has noted repeatedly that the current Republican party is a party of nihilists — men and women who offer no solutions of their own, refuse to even come to the table to discuss or find answers, and (empowered by Scott Brown’s win) now believe that refusing to cooperate and allowing things to worsen across the country is a viable path back to power and therefore a good idea.
In the middle of it all, you have FOX News speaking for Americans, defining victory as more refusal to cooperate, more destruction and more screaming loudly and stomping feet. One of Barack Obama’s biggest problems is that he talks to Americans like they’re adults; he admits when he makes mistakes, says what he’s trying to do and admits the task ahead is a difficult one. What he gets in response is a country that’s upset all its problems weren’t solved in a a year.
We’re not saying Barack Obama’s been a perfect president — far from it, in fact — but to look at what he’s accomplished (or failed to) without also looking at the nihilism on the other side is short-sighted. What’s perhaps most ironic about the FOX graphic above is the headline below the one we’ve discussed: “Fair and Balanced.”
That story is about what MSNBC and CNN covered on Tuesday. To the people at FOX, covering Haiti — seriously — instead of the entirety of Scott Brown’s victory speech makes their competitors biased.
The country we live in. Wow.

I don’t think that, w/r/t usage, a “rejection” can really “know no bounds.” You probably should refer to a rejection as being “thorough,” but not refer to its bounds or limits. I know, blogs are written fast and hot, etc. But, you know.
