not a fan of any award show. sick of the hype and how it seems to be that they are mandatory/essential to watch.

out the best picture nominees, i did see district 9 (against my wishes), and i would say it had a semi-decent story. but i dont need to see it again. ever.

and a friend of mine kept telling me how great avatar was. i told him i remembered the trailers and had no interest in seeing it, but he put it on anyway. such a boring film. i didnt even watch the entire thing.

nice article. it was an enjoyable read.

While it was popular amongst Jewish voters, I’m sure that the Coen film wouldn’t have made it in a top-5 scenario. And it didn’t really win any major precursors, not that that really means anything.

I agree. Every position that is well said and well conceived is valid. Some bloggers are poor stylists. They’re often more concerned with saying it first or fastest than saying it well. I would say that I appreciate good writing no matter the form. I mean, I’ve never said “damn, that was a good description of a hamburger. Top notch work Applebee’s menu writer,” but you get the idea. No need to thank me, the praise is well deserved. I showed several people your work and everybody really enjoys it. And I really can’t wait to see what Tarantino does next, if only to see your reaction to it. Sounds like there’s a chance it may be Kill Bill 3, but that could just be drunken Daryl Hannah talking.

Well, thanks. I think the position of the blogger, though maybe expected, is nonetheless valid. Bonus: I don’t live with my parents. Though the fact that you point out that the post is well written — does that mean most bloggers are poor stylists, or is it just well written no matter the form that it warrants pointing out?

I guess I’m being nitpicky. And thank you, in all seriousness, for taking a read and commenting. May we always be this respectful in our future discourse — because I’ll just bet I’ll hate the next Tarantino movie, too.

I’m going to put the praise up front this time: Really well-written article. Actually, really well-written blog as a whole. Your content feels well thought out, not simply deluges of bile and hatred shat out quickly. Kind of refreshing actually.

Of course, the general stance of this is a little…expected. “OMG, a blogger that wants to trash on the Academy Awards?! Why that’s as shocking as Glenn Beck engaging in hate-filled, wild, unsupported speculation!” Still, your point about calling them what they are sounds quasi-reasonable. These aren’t perfect awards (or often anywhere near “correct”), but they can be enjoyed for what they are.

I also like that your opinion of Inglourious Basterds has now sunk to Inglourious Fucktards levels. It kind of makes me love it even more.
