The poor, put-upon white people! Now they’ll be taxed for wanting to, we dunno, look black, maybe? The point is, Glenn Beck’s fill-in host claims that the tanning salon tax in the new health law is racist. At first we thought it was a joke, but then we remembered it was the “Glenn Beck Show” and realized that if they’re saying something that sounds stupid, fear-mongering and insane, they’re also completely serious (at least as serious as a paycheck).
Anyway, listen below. We’re selling shovels to help scoop up the gray matter that will ooze out of your ears.
Yes, John Boehner said as much last week. It was only a matter of time until Beck and his degenerates got a hold of it.

In John Boehner’s defense, the poor guy does live in a tanning booth, so that’s gonna be expensive.

I really do not understand how you cannot say the tax on tanning salons is not racist. There is only 1 group of folks using a tanning bed…Caucasians. While I do not understand why they would do it, they have that right. To be singled out and taxed for something that does not apply to any other segment of the population cannot be considered anything but racist. I am not a Glenn Beck fan. I am not an Obama fan. I am an American who is sick of being spat upon by the elitists in Washington that claim to “represent the people. Neither party represents anything other than themselves.
If the American people were not so brainwashed as to 1 side or the other, they could see these things for what they really are. Unfortunately we are a bunch of sheep. Over the last 30 years we have been lead to pasture and got too fat…..Now we are being lead to the slaughter by a man who should have never been elected president. He was elected because the group that we have to choose from on both sides is so tainted…..there is not a good choice. We voted for change. Unfortunately it is change for the worse. We did this out of despiration and now we are paying for it. I say fire the Glenn Becks of the world, elect new officials to every house and senate seat with maximums of 2-3 terms and impeach Obama because he is more of a disease than a president.
Here’s how I can say it’s not racist: It was a deal between Harry Reid and cosmetic surgeons who didn’t want to lose business because of the so-called Botax. The American Academy of Dermatology Association president argued that exposure to UV rays heightens the risk of cancer, and that was the rationale for dumping the Botax and taxing tanning salons.
It was about money. It was about getting a bill passed. It had nothing to do with race. Harry Reid and the AADA president are white. That doesn’t preclude them being racist toward whites, but it sure makes it harder.
There was a story about the whole thing months ago in the WSJ by Barbara Martinez. I’m not going to go to the trouble of finding you the link.
Grow up.
White people are definitely not the only people who use tanning beds.
I have numerous friends who work in tanning salons and let me tell you, the clientele include white people, asian people, latinos, a whole array of people! In fact, my friends who work there are Filipino and another one is Mexican.
Annie gets the award for thinking before she types today.
I try to make sure I do that from time to time. I make it a daily goal, this whole “thinking” business.
It’s a shame we’re the only ones that subscribe to that belief. (lol)
I’m still in shock about the responses crying racism.
Shouldn’t they be more concerned about the SKIN CANCER that comes from the overuse of tanning beds? (And who knows what else…leathery skin syndrome maybe?)
I mean, if I prefer chocolate ice cream over vanilla, does that make me racist too?
Or what if I prefer brown rice to white rice?!
OH NO.
Wow, I lost count of your fallacies here. Taxing tanning salons seems ridiculous, but not because it’s racist. I don’t know where you live, but here in CA, where I live, people of all color use tanning salons. ‘there is only one group of folks using a tanning bed’ Seriously? What a major hasty generalization. I know for a fact that people of many races use tanning salons. So you think that this is a racist attack on white people? caucasian people to me. White people have a much greater risk for developing skin cancer, but no one is to blame for that, so maybe it’s the sun or perhaps melanin itself that is racist.
The American people are not all necessarily so brainwashed as to one side or the other, the levels and directions of our brainwashed minds vary as much as anything could. I wish I wasn’t so brainwashed, so I could see things the way they really were, just like you.

I don’t know about Tanning tax being racists (yes I do and IT IS FOR SURE)… however the damn entitlement money for “HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES” is definitely RACISTS, just like any and all “BLACK ONLY Groups”, Black Congressional Caucas, Black Miss America, NACCP, etc… What white person in there right mind would join or be a part of any of these groups ??? With that said, IT’s ONLY RACISTS if WHITES do it toward BLACKS, not the other way around. Phuck the BLACKS and OBAMA !!!! It’s easy to see how Hitler existed…
Wow. That’s a fountain of rational thinking. It’s not only racist (singular) if whites do it against blacks, but I’m just saying this case isn’t racism, even if (mostly) whites are affected.
Ugh. Read an article or something before you type your fingers off, would you?
Heck yeah it’s racist. Any other nationality with “color” don’t use tanning beds and don’t have to pay the tax. It’s pretty much only white people this is directed to. Yes, white tan to get some color, but highly doubt they do it be be BLACK! Please!
Actually, no one HAS to pay the tax, because no one HAS to use a tanning bed.
And as Annie wrote above, white people aren’t the only ones who use tanning beds. How can something be racist against numerous ethnic groups? Or are you saying this is some kind of pro-black racism that was orchestrated by famous black person Harry Reid?
Everyone wants to rant and rave about equality until it comes to equality for caucasions. The tanning tax is ludicrous. Tanning serves so many other purposes other than causing the skin to become a slightly darker color and never black ie..it helps acne, it helps back pain, joint pain, rheumatoid arthritis, just to name a few. To single out one sector of people in a democratic society and tax them is not democracy for the PEOPLE. The president who was elected has almost single-handledly with his smooth tongue turned the United Stated into a socialist-headed country and is ruining society and further dividing our county. MLK wanted us all to get along and he had a dream that one day we would..some idiot killed him. This country should be demanding that the representatives that we the people put into office vote what the people want and not what the politicians want. That is democracy by the people and for the people. I personally think everyone in D.C. needs to go and we need to start over.
I’m curious how tanning salons help with the ailments you mentioned.
From Johns Hopkins Arthritis Center:
“There is no data to suggest that tanning has a beneficial effect on treating either arthritis pain or the underlying inflammatory cause of any arthritis. Psoriasis is sometimes treated with tanning–although the type of tanning performed in a community tanning bed is fundamentally different from the PUVA therpay used to treat skin psoriasis. However, tanning is not expected to improve the arthritis component in patients with psoariatic arthritis, even if it has a beneficial effect on skin psoriasis.”
Out of 115 articles related to Rheumatoid Arthritis there was no mention of tanning.
I can’t imagine why so many people assume caucasians are the only ones who tan in salons. It’s just not true. I’ve seen dozens of young asians girls who have tanned until they turn orange. What I do know is that people listening to Glenn Beck are looking for any outlet for their personal anger.
Look for another outlet for your anger. And I’m sorry to hear it’ll cost you a little more to look like a leather hand-bag.
Wow Dave….Didn’t get the responses you THOUGHT you were going to get here?? You start off your article with, “The poor, put-upon white people! Now they’ll be taxed for wanting to, we dunno, look black, maybe?” Isn’t THAT racist in its own. When “we” point out something that isn’t right…we aren’t allowed to?? Wakeup dude. Obama smoothed talked everyone into that position and now he is showing his true colors.
No, I thought the responses would be pretty ignorant.
No, those first two sentences aren’t racist on their own. They’re the thoughts of someone who isn’t having a stupid white-person knee-jerk reaction.
Yes. The “poor, put-upon white people.” Grow UP, for God’s sake.
i can understand the libertarian thinking behind the idea that “adults should be able to poison their bodies any way they please without being penalized or told what to do” and if that’s your argument against this tax (and soda tax, and cigarette tax) then good for you, you’ve at least thought this out in a critical way.
but if you don’t think it’s ridiculous for people to call this tax racist (it is ridiculous), then you are most likely a racist… and from most of the comments here, i can tell that most of you ARE, in fact, seriously racist. you have no idea what racism is, and you have obviously never experienced it (except maybe by inflicting it upon others).
spend a week or a month or a year living in a predominantly black neighborhood in brooklyn, and see just how much SOME (not all) of the residents there HATE your guts and make you feel constantly attacked simply because you’re white… until then, grow up and start thinking outside your own tiny little circle of existence.
TAX ON, OBAMA.
