Fred Thompson is feeling the effects of climate change -- in his pants!
If you’ve been outside (and not died) in the past month or so, you already know the news, but hey, it’s really hot. How hot is it? According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, June was the hottest June on record — ever. What’s interesting about that is the hottest June on record directly follows the hottest May, hottest April and hottest March!
Again, never in the history of recorded temperatures have we had a hotter March, April, May or June than the ones we had this year. To wit, according to NOAA, “this was the 304th consecutive month with a global temperature above the 20th century average. The last month with below-average temperature was February 1985.”
Head over to Drudge, though, and see if it’s being reported. Listen to Limbaugh. Or don’t do either. We’ll spare you. Here’s the top of Drudge right now:
Nope, that’s not David Cameron dying from extraordinary heat; it’s something totally unrelated because, of course, the highest temperatures on record don’t conform with Drudge’s worldview that climate change isn’t real. Snow in Denmark in December, though? STOP THE PRESSES!
To the GOP and the wingnut news outlets, this is all just the ups and downs of weather. If we all weren’t such pussies, we’d just man up and shut up about how hot it is. That’s what the greatest generation would’ve done. That’s what Ronald Reagan would’ve done. Science schmience!
Heck, with all the crap going on in this crazy mixed up country, I have been ready to pack up and live incognito in Siberia. Guess what? It has even been hot in Siberia! They are afraid that when the permafrost there thaws, there will be a shitload of methane released from below. Just like I hope they can avoid in the area of the DH wellhead by not disturbing it too much. Anybody disputing global warming has their genitalia for a brain! The entire world has been way hotter than normal. I’m old enough to remember how the weather was in the 1960s where I live in Southeastern PA, and the weather here in the summer is more like Florida with more humidity and a much higher dewpoint plus we now have the urban heat island effect. Why? More people and more human activity-more cars, pollution, development, homes, energy use, etc. We knew this and that we would be losing our fossil fuels back in 1972 when I was in 6th grade. If an elementary school student learned this and remembered this then what the hell is up with deniers, including scientists? Or are they some BP bought?
And let Matt Drudge broadcast from a studio in a hot studio in New York City without air conditioning when the temperature is 95 degrees, the dewpoint around 73 degrees and the heat index in the 100s. I have no respect for these brainless idiots like Grudge and his Rethuglican suck-sucks!
