Some blogs might have a mission statement or just a theme. Maybe it’s a “news” site like, oh, I don’t know, CNN.com or nytimes.com. Or maybe it’s a sports site like ESPN.com or a clearinghouse for clever pictures of cats. The point is, you know what you’re getting when you hit those.
Well, here at Some Country for Old Men, it’s not gonna be like that. No sir. This place is different. Sure there’s some talk about country music, but that’s not a theme. What we’re really about here is creating a special sensation: the sensation of hanging out with a bunch of old men. Yes, said old men will sometimes be cranky. They might share old (possibly partially or completely fabricated) stories. Or they might talk about a colorfully Dickensian cast of characters (hat tip, Greatest Depression).
They also might talk about politics, too. Or food. Maybe the latest in pain meds. It’ll be like hanging out with your grandpa and all his most fun friends, except you won’t have to see all the wrinkles and age spots (whatever those are) or deal with spittle from close-talking.
So sit back, fire up your big band music, and let’s take a trip through this crazy world — nay, this crazy country…for old men.
